Homeless/poor
So I've started to work on a piece that is of a homeless guy, and I wanted it to represent being "trapped" in the cycle of homelessness. Then... I remembered that I already did one on being trapped in Poverty. Are these two too similar? I don't want to look repetative :/ Let me know what you think!!!

Spring Break
I was working on my second piece over spring break with my family at the beach.. and my sister decided she wanted to do art with me. It was the first time she has ever done anyyything artsy, and it was fun to watch her pick up a paintbrush and have absolutely no idea where to begin. then again, i feel like that's how i am every time i begin an art project too.. but oh well.

February pieces
This month my two pieces are of rain boots and cigarettes. I started doing the boots in encaustics because I like the way that bright colors look in encaustics.. but I'm not really happy with how it turned out. Also.. still trying to come up with a way that I can say the rain boots are trapped.

Royal Robertson
I'm not sure if we have to make another blog post for this week, or if it is just the online critique... But I seem to forget a lot so I'm just going to do one anyways. But anyways, I went to a concert a while ago and the artist (sufjan stevens) performed music from his new album that was inspired by this artist named Royal Robertson. He had 11 kids, was a paranoid schizophrenic, and claimed to have a futuristic vision of a space ship with God as driver, when he was fourteen. Pretty interesting guy... here's his art

2 pieces
The first one is a comment about being trapped in religion (encaustic), and the second one is supposed to be how you can be trapped in culture/tradition (water color).

meth
I read this book called "Methland" a few days ago because I had to write an essay about meth for some scholarship.. I thought that it was interesting... but now all I can think about is meth (I told that to my mom and she got mad) Seriously though it;s all i've been thinking about lately.. and I think I want to do a piece about how people are "trapped" by their drug addictions... but i dunno, do you think that's too much of a stretch? I also don't think I can represent it in a way that isn't cheesy/doens't look like I'm addicted to drugs.. sketch. so, I'm open to ideas
